Training Course Managment System

Before applying for a course it is recommended that applicants read the target audience descriptions to help decide which level of training best suits personal needs.

If you have any questions about the relevance or suitability of a particular course, please ring 01484 225161 and ask to speak to a Learning & Development Officer, or email KSCB.Admin@kirklees.gov.uk

Charges

Courses are free for the statutory, voluntary and community sector, however failure to attend without giving prior notice may result in a £50 charge to cover costs.  Charges for the private sector are outlined in the charging policy

Courses

Level 1

Level 2

Before attending level 2 courses it is highly recommended that applicants undertake basic training in child abuse and neglect. This may be done by attending in-house training delivered within your own agency or by completing the Kirklees Safeguarding Children Board e-learning course ‘An Awareness of Child Abuse and Neglect'.  The Level 2 courses must be undertaken in the order indicated below as each course follows in sequence.

Level 3

Before attending level 3 courses applicants should have completed level 2 training (Working Together to Safeguard Children, and Making Positive Contributions to Child Protection Conferences and Core Groups).    Applicants might have attended similar level 2 courses elsewhere or have experience or qualifications equivalent to the training which should be notified when submitting an application.  Applications for level 3 courses without any prior training will always require discussion with a Learning and Development Officer before an application can be approved.

Level 4

Safeguarding Briefings

Safeguarding briefings are open to all staff.  They are short sessions held at intervals throughout each year.  They provide the opportunity to hear guest speakers talk on a range of safeguarding issues and specialist areas of work, meet with other professionals, share best practice and network.  Click on the link below to view details of forthcoming briefings:

How to apply for Training

To apply for a place on any course or safeguarding briefing log onto the KSCB training course management system.  Use the system to browse through available courses, submit applications, cancel places, view your training history and print certificates.   For classroom based courses you will be contacted by email regarding your application - once you have submitted an application keep the date free in your diary until you hear from us.  If you apply for e-learning a link will take you straight to the course.

KSCB Learning and Development Strategy

The overall purpose of the Multi-Agency Learning and Development Strategy is to provide the framework for the provision of KSCB learning and development events to ensure that people working with children, young people, vulnerable adults and families in Kirklees are appropriately skilled and competent.  The strategy has been developed in the context of Government guidance and legislation, it sets out the core values underpinning all learning and development events, and it recognises the different skills and knowledge required by different staff in all levels of an organisation.
