Working Together to Safeguard Children
Aim
To give participants an opportunity to review their understanding of the nature and impact of child abuse and neglect. This course also aims to give participants a comprehensive overview of roles and responsibilities within the safeguarding procedures to enable them to deliver effective multi-agency work.
Learning Outcomes
By the end of the course the participants will be able to:
- Define what safeguarding is and why they need to work together
- Cite at least two key pieces of safeguarding legislation
- Summarise the different levels of intervention that may be required to safeguard and promote the welfare of children
- List good practice issues in safeguarding children
- Distinguish between an effective and non-effective referral
- Describe what happens following a referral
- Locate KSCB procedures and give an example of when these may be useful

This course includes a guest speaker from the Kirklees Duty and Assessment Team
It is recommended that all learners undertake this course before attending any other KSCB multi-agency course
