Aim:
To enable staff from statutory and voluntary agencies to understand the impact of parental mental illness on the child
Learning Outcomes:
By the end of the course participants will:
- Have an understanding of mental illness and understand the potential impact on parenting ability and on children at different ages
- Have an understanding of risk assessment in relation to parental mental illness and how to keep the child in focus
- Have an understanding of mental health and children's social care structures
- Have a greater understanding of how different agencies can work together with families where parents have mental illness
- Have understood the relevance of KSCB procedures
