Working with Parents with Learning Disabilities
Kirklees & Wakefield & Calderdale Learning & Development Team's have joined together to deliver this training. this training is available to all 3 authorities
Aim:
To enable staff from all agencies to understand the impact parental learning disabilities can have on parenting skills and a child's development.
Learning Outcomes:
By the end of the course participants will:
- Have considered the consequences of parental learning disabilities on parenting abilities and the long term impact on a child's needs
- Understand when a parent's learning disability becomes a child protection issue
- Have promoted confidence in understanding, communicating with and working with parents within a safeguarding framework
- Have a greater understanding of how different agencies can work together with families where parents have learning disabilities, different roles and responsibilities and the relevance of safeguarding procedures
- Have a greater awareness of local resources
