Information Sharing
The following procedures and guidance clarify the rules about information sharing.
Local procedures
Practitioners should familiarise themselves with chapter 1.8 of the West Yorkshire Consortium Safeguarding Children Procedures on Information Sharing and Confidentiality.
Government guidance
A range of useful guidance for practitioners and managers can be found on the Department for Education website at: http://www.education.gov.uk/childrenandyoungpeople/strategy/integratedworking/a0072915/information-sharing .
The Seven Golden Rules for information sharing is an extract from HM Government ‘Information sharing: Guidance for practitioners and managers', DCSF 2008. Accompanied by a flowchart of key questions the seven golden rules will help support decision making that information is being shared legally and professionally. If you answer ‘not sure' to any of the questions, you should seek advice from your supervisor, manager, nominated person within your organisation , or from a professional body.
