Impact of Domestic Violence
Aim:
To raise awareness of the impact of domestic violence on children and on parenting capacity
Learning Outcomes:
By the end of the course participants will:
- Have developed an increased awareness of the issues around domestic violence in relation to parenting capacity
- Have learnt about the risks of domestic violence for unborn children
- Understand how domestic violence impacts on children's development
- Understand some of the issues for partners leaving violent relationships
- Understood the safety issues related to contact
- Have knowledge of some local initiatives in working with the perpetrators of domestic violence
- Have knowledge of the relevance of child protection procedures in cases where children are affected by domestic violence issues
Please note the course will assume a basic understanding of Domestic Violence and will therefore focus on the impact on children and parenting.
